Responsibilities
Leverage data analytics and programming expertise to support the development of cyber catastrophe models. This role focuses on extracting insights from complex datasets, building analytical tools, and translating data into actionable intelligence to support model development and risk quantification.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Insight Generation
- Analyze large and complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and anomalies relevant to cyber risk modelling.
- Translate data findings into real-world conclusions that inform model assumptions and business decisions.
- Collaborate with cyber risk modelers and engineers to define data requirements and ensure data quality and integrity.
Programming & Tool Development
- Develop and maintain Python or Julia-based tools and scripts for data processing, visualization, and statistical analysis.
- Automate data workflows and contribute to the continuous improvement of the team’s analytical capabilities.
- Support the integration of analytical outputs into model development pipelines.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with cyber risk modelers to understand research objectives and provide data-driven insights.
- Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through reports, dashboards, and presentations.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain technical documentation.
Continuous Learning
- Stay current with advancements in data science, cybersecurity, and risk analytics.
- Proactively explore new tools, libraries, and methodologies to enhance analytical effectiveness.
Skills and Competencies
Technical Skills
Required:
- Proficiency in programming with Python or Julia, with experience in developing tools for data analysis, visualization, and statistical modeling.
- Strong SQL skills for querying and managing large datasets.
- Knowledge of data visualization techniques and tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, or equivalent in Python/Julia).
- Strong data analytical skills, including handling outliers, managing missing data, and performing basic statistical modeling.
Desired:
- Familiarity with Machine Learning or Statistical Learning methods for predictive modeling.
- Experience in designing and building dashboards for visualizing analytical outputs.
- Experience with MS Excel for data exploration or light analysis.
- Experience with Tableau or Power BI for dashboard creation and reporting.
Soft Skills
- Strong desire to understand and interpret data deeply, beyond simply applying tools or methods.
- Ability to develop a comprehensive understanding of complex subjects through data and additional research.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey data findings and insights effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Adaptability to shifting priorities and the ability to provide realistic time estimates for project tasks.
Education
Required: Minimum Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related STEM field.
