The Role:


Within our Earthquake Model Development team, you will be a part of Moody’s Analytics Geotechnical Model Development group. In that role, you will contribute to the development and enhancement of our geotechnical models. Your role will include gathering and analyzing geotechnical model data providing a hands-on experience in the geotechnical earthquake modeling framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret geotechnical model data such as boring logs, well data and time series data
  • Ability to process and interpret satellite imagery and Digital Elevation Models along with their derivatives
  • Contribute to ongoing research and development efforts in the field of liquefaction hazard modeling, incorporating latest innovations in the field of geotechnical earthquake engineering
  • Apply statistical and data analysis methods to quantify risks associated with liquefaction hazard in different scenarios
  • Ability to work with spatial data formats to generate visualizations and process workflows in the form of reproducible codes
  • Work in collaboration with the team to ensure alignment with project objectives
  • Effectively communicate complex technical or scientific concepts, both verbally and in writing

Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD degree in related fields: Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Seismology or related field.
  • Proficient coding skills, preferably in R or python
  • Proficient in statistics specializing in the scientific interpretation of diverse sets of observational data
  • Knowledge of geotechnical data and modeling techniques
  • Familiarity with GIS and Remote Sensing tools and software's
  • Familiarity with flow modeling software's such as MODFLOW
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to investigate and solve problems
  • Ability to work in a team

  • In Earthquake Model Development team, we implement latest science and engineering by partnering with the academic institutions, researchers and clients to ensure that our clients make impactful financial decisions based on the best available information. We are a global, multi-disciplinary team of professionals with a shared passion for developing the best catastrophe models in the market. Our team comprises:
  • Scientists and engineers in the areas of earth science and engineering, from seismology, geophysics, geology, geotechnical engineering, ground-motion modeling to earthquake engineering.
  • Experts in analytics and statistics for scientific interpretation of a wide range of observation data and earthquake loss estimates.
  • An unmatched team of risk modelers with long-term experience and diverse perspectives.
