Skills and Competencies

  • Experience in macroeconomic analysis, technical writing, and econometric modeling software, and statistical analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required in order to work directly with clients to fulfill scheduled customized products.                                                                  
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.  
  • Experience working independently and supervising/training co-workers.  


Education

  • PhD in Economics or related field and five plus years experience -OR- Master’s degree and ten plus years experience.   


Responsibilities

  • Analyze data, contribute regional and macro analysis to company publications, write recurring and original research articles for company and other research publications, and substantively contribute to our website commentary by covering economic indicators, writing blogs, and writing detailed commentary pieces. Contribute to the development and production of new and existing products, participate in contract consulting, and present to clients and other groups.
  • Manage monthly forecast processes and takes responsibility for quality checks for broader range of components of the forecast.                                       
  • Responsible for more complex equation estimation and model building, working independently but with final review by senior staff. 
  • Take ownership of a subject area including modeling, consulting, and original research.
  • Forecast and analyze sub-national and country economies, acting as an expert for higher-profile states or countries and their metro areas.       
  • Assume responsibility for complex individual custom contract consulting projects and relationships with minimal to no supervision. This may include proposal writing and supporting sales team.
  • May contribute to subscription product editing.
  • Participate in the training of more junior economists. 
  • Contribute to the development and production of new products, proprietary data and indicators.
  • Participate in higher-profile media interviews, as necessary, in areas of expertise and the broader economy.                                           
  • Lead teleconferences and regularly present at client conferences.   
  • Supervises an Associate Economist and/or Economist 1 or 2 including day-to-day management and writing and delivery of performance evaluations.
