Skills and Competencies

  • Deep knowledge of macroeconomic theory and data, with ability to distil insights from macroeconomic datasets.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills with an ability to convey complex economic concepts in clear, non-technical language.
  • Proficiency in use of statistical software packages.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work directly with clients are a must.
  • Must be a motivated, responsible person who can work well with others independently of daily supervision.
  • An interest in developing countries and/or interactions between climate, energy and the macroeconomy strongly preferred.

Education

  • Master’s degree in Economics or related field -OR- a Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in economic forecasting and consulting is required.

Responsibilities

Assume responsibility for forecasting and analyzing macroeconomic developments for countries in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. Work with senior staff on research and consulting projects.

  • Assume responsibility for forecasting and analyzing macroeconomic developments for two countries in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. Create baseline forecasts and alternative scenarios for these countries, aligned to narratives agreed with senior staff.
  • Write reports and economic commentary about the outlook for assigned countries. Cover economic indicators and write blogs. Respond to internal and external client questions and participate in client-facing meetings.
  • Provide support to senior analysts in data analysis, charts, tables and maps.
  • Code new programs for data processing and analysis using Python, R or Eviews.
  • Contribute to the development of macroeconomic climate scenarios.
  • May contribute to the econometric analysis of macroeconomic data and support the development of macroeconomic models.
  • Contribute to original research articles for the company and other research publications, as well as to regional macroeconomic analysis. Gain experience in public speaking by presenting at internal meetings.

The forecasts are an integral part of broader solutions provided by Moody’s to global banks, financial institutions and other corporates.
