Skills and Competencies
- Strong programming skills preferably in R / python using various statistical and mathematical packages.
- Proficiency in handling and interpreting large datasets to identify meaningful information out of it.
- Good working knowledge of MS-Excel.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills and Excellent attention to details.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, able to present complex information lucidly to the team members.
Education
MS or M.Tech degree in relevant field in science or engineering such as Earthquake Engineering, Civil Engineering, structural engineering, Seismology
Role and Responsibilities
Moody’s RMS Earthquake Analytics team works mainly in analyzing, interpreting, and presenting catastrophe loss results to the group team, clients and other stakeholders as required. This team works with the global earthquake development team to define goals, and project deliverables.
The Analytics team is currently seeking a skilled intern who is passionate about data modelling. The research prospects include but are not limited to analysis of damage data due earthquake events by utilizing statistical and data analysis techniques to assess earthquake risks across various scenarios. Candidate during the internship will work with experienced professionals and explore various statistical tools and techniques to automate existing workflow by creating reproducible codes.
About the team
The Model Development group focuses on developing industry leading stochastic catastrophe models for the quantification and management of catastrophe risk. From regional based earthquake and hurricane models to terrorism risk models, the industry, and our 400+ clients recognize RMS as the largest developer of catastrophe models in the risk market. RMS continues to drive industry innovation with the enhancement and expansion of our leading models. The Analytics team of Model Development group is responsible for analyzing and interpreting the in house earthquake model results and translate insight into actionable model improvement for at par quality models.
