Skills and Competencies

• Degree in accounting or finance and a minimum of two years of experience
• "Go-getter" mentality - someone who takes initiative, is willing to invest time in learning new systems/processes, and is very detail-oriented
• CPA or country equivalent accountancy license obtained (or in progress) preferred
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strategic thinker/ability to effectuate meaningful change/efficiencies
• Experience with process transformation and technology enablement via utilization of Power BI, Alteryx, or similar data visualization and ETL tools is a plus

Education

The Senior Accountant - Financial Reporting will join a dynamic technology-enabled controllership team supporting Moody’s external reporting function. The position will focus heavily on SEC reporting (Form 10-K/Form 10-Q).

Primary responsibilities include:

• Assist in preparation of accurate and timely filing of the Company’s quarterly and annual SEC filings (including XBRL reporting)
• Assist in preparation of the monthly and quarterly senior management and Board of Director reporting packages
• Assist with monthly stock-based compensation analysis
• Work closely with the Investor Relations team on quarterly earnings-related materials
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Corporate Planning, General Accounting, Tax, and other teams within Moody’s to obtain and develop key reporting insights
• Preparation of U.S. statutory reports (e.g., ERISA and Captive Insurance financial statements)
• Participate in transformation and technology enablement initiatives that impact the external reporting function, mainly through process improvement and automation, including the use of Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) tools such as Alteryx and data visualization tools such as Power BI
• Assist with various other ad hoc projects
