Skills and Competencies

  • 8 -10+ years of legal experience with a minimum of 3 years of experience drafting technology, services and other commercial contracts as primary job duties.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, administration, and project management skills.
  • Positive, execution-oriented outlook, with superior drafting skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Experience managing multiple deals and other tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, and manage multi-faceted deals and projects.
  • Proven track record of learning quickly, taking initiative, working proactively, being resourceful and taking on additional responsibility.

Education

J.D. from an accredited law school, strong academic credentials, and licensed and in good standing.

Responsibilities

  • This role involves negotiating, drafting, and counseling business clients regarding various types of technology agreements, including software (and SaaS), data license, and professional services agreements and a variety of other general commercial contracts.
  • The incumbent will develop business relationships with internal business leaders and other stakeholders, implement strategic best practices, limit Moody’s supply chain risk and exposure, and advise internal business clients on relevant legal contexts, issues and risks, complex agreement structures, approval processes, and company policies and procedures.
  • The role also involves working with other teams in Moody’s Legal Department, providing IP related legal advice and support for the day-to-day operations of the company, including advising on IP ownership and licensing, data usage rights, open source, fair use and social media.
  • The incumbent will assist with other projects and matters in areas which may include privacy, information security, compliance, contract management, internal investigations, and other legal and regulatory issues.
  • The role also involves contributing to the development of Moody’s Legal department culture and practices

About the team

The Legal Department provides legal services to Moody’s Corporation and its subsidiaries. The Procurement Law team focuses on providing strategic legal advice to the Procurement Group within Moody’s. This role will be a part of the Procurement Law team.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is [[$160,100 - [[$232,100, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
