Skills and Competencies
*    Over 10 years of experience in financial services, with a strong background in sales and marketing.
*    Bilingual proficiency: native Japanese speaker with fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
*    Strong communicator and negotiator, capable of engaging C-level executives and managing operational and adminstrative details.
*    Strategic thinker with a curious mindset, self-driven, and effective at translating ideas into action.
*    Deep knowledge of financial instruments, debt capital, and credit markets; proficient in Moody’s product suite.
*    Team-oriented, highly organized, and committed to diversity, inclusion, and collaborative stakeholder management.


Education
*    Minimum of undergraduate degree preferably in finance, accounting, business or economics. 


Responsibilities
*    Drive business growth by delivering both quantitative and qualitative targets through effective teamwork and strategic outreach. 
*    Identify new opportunities by leveraging deep understanding of debt capital markets, client profiles, and issuance pipelines to identify new opportunities. 
*    Defend Moody’s agency-of-choice position through consistent, high-quality client interactions. Lead contract negotiations with a strategic approach to maximize profitability. 
*    Perform hands-on account management for existing clients to ensure timely and accurate operations, collaborating with associates and other internal control and support functions.
*    Independently lead high-level relationship meetings with senior decision-makers such as CFOs and Treasurers. 
*    Spearhead market expansion in areas like sustainable finance, digital finance, private credit, high yield and any other evolving risk areas in focus. 
*    Foster engagement with issuer clients, prospects, and intermediaries, while collaborating closely with ratings and research teams. 
*    Build trust-based relationships across internal teams to align analytical insights with client needs. Promote Moody’s integrated risk assessment value proposition. 
*    Contribute to internal initiatives focused on credit risk themes, operational efficiency, and business development. 
*    Dedicate an extensive portion of time (approximately 60%) to engage clients and effectively enhance market presence. 
*    Collaborate across APAC and global teams, mentoring junior colleagues and supporting franchise-wide outreach strategies.


About the Role 
The Vice President is an individual contributor who reports to the Head of Relationship Management of Japan. This client-facing role is responsible for driving business and operations forward with minimal supervision. The Vice President will play a pivotal role in managing the existing business, driving new business development, staying versed with various different internal policies & guidelines and building effective network with external stakeholders. This requires in-depth understanding of the debt capital markets and exceptional interpersonal communication and writing skills both in English and Japanese.
